Sen. Miriam, defends Pnoy on alleged ‘influencing’ senator-judges during Corona trial

Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago defended Pres. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III amid Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.’s accusation that the president influenced the senator judges to impeach former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Santiago said in an interview that even the president influenced the senators during the impeachment, it still cannot be considered as crime.

The lady senator stressed that Aquino’s influence is considered as ‘legal and political in nature’ since he is a nominal leader of his political party.

However, she admitted that it is clearly another issue when a chief executive influenced the senator judges through bribery.

Yesterday, Revilla exposed in his privilege speech in Senate the alleged Aquino’s influence on their part as senator-judges during the Corona trial but they weren’t bribed.

Pnoy confirmed Revilla’s statement but insisted it was due to intelligence reports on alleged pressure on the senators.

Aquino named the senator-judges whom he met as Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Ralph Recto and Teofisto Guingona.

Who do you think is telling the truth? Senator Bong Revilla or President Noynoy Aquino?
