21-year old from Lincolnshire, England admitted she was raped by her father
when she was 12.
Gemma
Schembri said she was sexually abused knowing it was normal.
In
an interview, Gemma stated her father, Mark, told him it was better to lose her
virginity to him rather than to be given with some guys in hotel.
She
revealed she decided to stay with her father when her parents decided to
separate.
Gemma
said her father manipulated her never knowing that rape was wrong. It took her
long years before she realized that what her father did to him was a kind of
sexual abuse.
She
explained that her mother did not explain about sexual abuse or any type of it when
she was a child until someone told her about it.
So
far, Gemma is supporting the new campaign of National Society for the Prevention
of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) which is called PANTS or 'Privates are private'.
The
campaign encourages parents to conduct simple and proper conversation with
their children about disadvantages of sexual abuse.
Gemma
now with her mother and NSPCC is now supporting her family. Her dad is now in
prison.
